Our Mission
The Araminta Group’s inception originated from a mission to address injustice. It was formed to
combat the Florida East Coast Railway police’s illegal arrests of African-Americans in Overtown,
Miami, and succeeded in bringing about policy change. Over time, the group expanded its focus
to get involved in Miami politics and protect the Overtown community.
